Floor Wars
This tournament style dance competition has been a premiere event at the convention since 2012. It’s a place for the best dancers in the fandom to battle it out and entertain a massive audience while they compete in a variety of challenges that change every year.
This year we will be returning to the Freestyle Roulette, a fan favorite. As always, we'll be throwing a new challenge in along with it: this time it’s a 2v2!
You and your partner will be put to the test both creatively and cooperatively to come up with concepts, characters, and skill-filled scenarios to battle your way to the top spot.
As with last year, we are basing this format on other non-furry competitions that have used similar formats! We are hoping for this year to be just as exciting as previous years have been!
Signups for Floor Wars have ended for 2024.

Costume Restrictions & Expectations
Dancers may be fursuiters, nonsuiters, or any combination. No restriction except to keep outfits PG-13 (no visible genitals, etc).
Video Auditions
As with last year, we will be hosting an optional online preliminary for people unable to make in-person prelims. (Dealers, Panel Hosts, etc). Specific details will be given via email after signups close.
Preliminaries (Friday)
Prelims will run in a battle format, but not tournament style. Your team will be judged strictly on skill level and performance in the battle (not on a win/lose format like finals).
Prelims judges will narrow down the groups until 15 (+1 that wins the online slot) are chosen for finals. Including this, there will be “runner-ups” who will act as either fill ins for absent/tardy finalists or mid-finals break showcase battle.
Judges will be basing their choices on a variety of criteria including but not limited to:
Knowledge
Skill
Execution
Call & Response
Originality/Creativity
Finals (Saturday Evening)
Attendance
Finalists must arrive at the finals venue at least 30 minutes prior to the event, though we urge you to come earlier if possible. If a dancer or team does not show up by the time roll call is finished for the second time, that team will be replaced by a runner-up team.
Competition Style
Finals are run in a tournament style.
2 rounds per battle, finals will be 4.
Teams may choose to either both dance during a round, dance alone, or a mixture of the two (e.g. commandos where one person "introduces/launches" the other dancer forward)
Round 1: the wheel will be spun, random concept given; both sides will each interpret in allotted time (45-55 secs per side)
Round 2: the wheel will be spun again, a new concept will be given; both sides will again go.
Tiebreaker: wheel will be spun once more; single round (35-50 secs per side)
Judging
Judging criteria will be the same as prelims however this time it is a win/lose format.
